Don't buy a Tom Tom if you're looking for a good sat nav,there are others out there that are free and just as good, like Waze or Apple maps. I'm now seeking legal advice Be warned, if you buy a Tom Tom you won't have the same protections, and I'm in a worse situation as I brought it direct from them. So am entitled to a refund, BUT they're not now based in the UK. They're now based in Holland but In the UK it's still under 12 months warranty and under British consumer laws it's not fit for the purpose I brought it for.
Their customer service is zero, the device does not work properly, and they're now saying as I've had it for over 14 days they won't issue a refund. I contacted them on Facebook who told me to do the stuff I'd already done so plus they wanted me to reinstall the software, which with their instructions simply would not work. I then have to do a restart, and three days ago it did this three times in a day. Over the last couple of weeks it's now decided to at random stop any voice directions. It was then that I started doing some homework and found out that on this £350 version, it was using 6 year old software, but running extra things like make calls and receive texts, and obviously a larger interface being now a six inch screen. A real pain as I use it for my work doing 30 drops a day. The device in general was slow, in fact slower than my 8 year old model for getting up the search a postcode page, it could take 20 seconds to load. In fact there was nobody at the end of any phone, anywhere in the world. It was then that I found out there was no Mr nice guy at the end of the telephone. After 3 weeks it would just turn itself off and I would have to do a complete reset. It was larger than my old one and all seemed good. It was supposed to turn up in a smart box, but it didn't. A new screen will open, login and choose the updates you would like to perform.
